I just got back from the ice carving event at the Crystal Classic in Green River. It would have been nice if they started the ice sculptures earlier, with the sun still out. Despite that little quip, it was fun to watch and I got some good photos. Hope you enjoy! Click on the images to see a larger version of them.
- Ice Sculptor Steven Koch uses a detailing tool to smooth some of the rough edges in his ice sculpture.
- The outline of a sculpture depicting a mother and child is visible in an otherwise solid block of ice. Kent Merrill, the artist behind the work, then used a chainsaw to cut the ice away from the image.
- Sculptor Tom Pitt uses a hand tool to manually carve detail into his work.
